Main Occasion Harp – The Salvi Electro-Acoustic EGAN: “Respecting the acoustic sound of the harp, Salvi technicians have created the Electroacoustic Egan. A harp created to give power to sound, whilst preserving the acoustic natural character of the instrument. The new Egan Electroacoustic is the result of research and experimentation at the Salvi laboratories in Piasco and offers to the harpist a pure and acoustic amplified sound. The 38 directional pick-ups collect the vibration of each string conveying all the range of frequencies to the active pre-amplifying circuit. In this way the upper and lower tones are sent unaltered to a pair of monophonic jack outputs. A warm and rich bass end, a harmonious mid-range and clear trebles make the Electroacoustic Egan the perfect harp for the musician who wants a natural amplified sound.” The Egan is made from maple with a spruce sound board and my Egan has a beautiful Ebony finish. |
Smaller, Informal Harp – The Dusty Strings Ravenna:
The Dusty Strings 26 provides an exciting option for those smaller more informal occasions while still providing the rich and satisfying sound that Dusty is known for. The 26-string model is highly portable and so is able to go where the large Egan is unable to go, e.g. on the edge of a cliff or up a spiral staircase to the top of a castle! This harp is also fitted with a twin spot classic pick up, which can be used to amplify the sound. The harp is handcrafted in America using laminated Finland birch and solid ash. The soundboard is made from laminated Finland birch, the neck and pillar are made from solid ash and the soundbox is made from laminated Finland birch with black ash-grained vinyl veneer. |
